The Bidel Dehlavi Foundation says the fifth Bidel Dehlavi International Congress will be held July 5-6 in Tehran.

Maulana Abul-Ma’ani Mirza Abdul-Qadir Bidel, better known as Bidel Dehlavi (1642–1720), is known as a master of Indian style of Persian poetry (also called Isfahani or Safavi style), IRNA reported on its Persian website.

Living in India, Bidel mostly wrote ghazal and rubayee  (quatrain) in Persian which he had learned since childhood. He is the author of 16  poetry books that contain nearly 147,000 verses. Later Indian poet Mirza Ghalib and Pakistani poet Iqbal Lahori were influenced by his works.

The event, directed by Hadi Saeedi-Kiasari, will present talks on the life, works and thoughts of the poet, as well as a selection of his articles.

The center for Cultural and Artistic Creation affiliated to the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, located on Hejab Street in central Tehran will host the event.
